Rafael moved to Florence in 1504 and lived there for four years before moving to Rome. In Rome, he painted the "Stanza della Segnatura" room in the Vatican pallace with a cycle of four frescoes titled: Philosophy, Law, Poetry, and Theology. While he was working on the frescoes, he was simultaneously painting one of his most well known pieces, the "Sistene Madonna". He also painted Pope Julius II personal Library, and was the best friend of Pope Leo X. He died on April 6, 1520, at the age of 37 while working on a painting called, "Transfiguration".
